The Rainbow Honor Walk was recently featured on SF Francisco’s KGO TV/ABC 7, with current Board President Donna Sachet and past president David Perry providing a walking tour of the Castro District installation. You can see the video here.

In May 2022 and with the help of SF’s DPW, the board was able to fabricate and install 8 new honoree plaques in the Castro’s sidewalk. This latest round of inductees highlighted the legacies of LGBTQ icons Gladys Bentley, Quentin Crisp, Divine, Audre Lorde, Leonard Matlovich, Sylvia Rivera, Vito Russo, and Maurice Sendak. You can see an installation video here.

In early 2022 the board voted on a new round of LGBTQ honorees. Read about our next 24 LGBTQ pioneers, including a board range of hometown heroes, international leaders, and artists for the ages. Read the names, short bios, and other details of these luminaries here.
