Alan Thomsen works as Financial Manager for the Swedenborgian House of Studies at the Pacific School of Religion in Berkeley. Prior to that position, he served for seven years on the school’s Board of Trustees. He helped the school relocate to the West Coast after an existence of nearly 140 years in the Boston area. Alan played a major role in overseeing the reorganization, appraisal, and care of the institution’s unique library and extensive archives, and served as well on employee and faculty search committees. Alan is a graduate of San Francisco State University, and a Francophile and dedicated book lover who can, however, be espied discretely reading a Kindle on occasion. A rescapé of Southern California, he is a decades-long resident of the Bay Area, primarily San Francisco and Berkeley. He has survived the HIV/AIDS epidemic and is thrilled to be a part of this important project which allows the community to honor and remember its heroines and heroes from all ages and walks of life.
