Federico Garcia Lorca

Federico Garcia Lorca (1898–1936) was a Spanish poet, playwright, political activist whose poetry and plays combine elements of Andalusian folklore with sophisticated and often surrealistic poetic techniques and cut across all social and educational barriers. As an openly gay man, he used his fame to fight Fascism in Spain and was ultimately murdered by soldiers in Francisco Franco’s army. SF Bay Times Article
