Divine

Divine (1945–1988) born Harris Glenn Milstead in Baltimore, was an iconic actor, drag performer, and recording artist who redefined beauty, gender, and fame through fearless self-expression. As the outrageous muse of filmmaker John Waters, Divine became a cult legend in films such as Pink Flamingos, Female Trouble, and Hairspray. His bold performances mixed shock, humor, and heart, challenging audiences to see beyond convention and stereotype. In the 1980s, Divine achieved success as a disco singer, topping dance charts with songs like You Think You’re a Man and I’m So Beautiful. Behind the flamboyant persona was a kind, determined artist who helped bring queer visibility into the mainstream.
